Halloween Funfest (Family Event)

Sunday, October 24, 3:00 pm–5:00 pm
Do you believe in ghosts, witches and all things scary? The Sports Hub is looking for some scary creatures to come and have a bone-chilling good time at our 15th Annual Halloween Funfest. This event will feature games, food, and music with lots of prizes to give away, everyone wins! This is an excellent activity for families with younger children. Tickets are $0.25 each or 5 for a $1.00 (games range from 1 to 2 tickets each).

Harvest Fest

Sunday, October 3
Celebrate autumn at Harvest Fest at Heritage Park located at Windy Point Drive and Paul Avenue. Enjoy music from the Runaways, along with carriage/hay rides, craft fair, marionette puppet show and face painting. The Glendale Heights Special Events Committee will be selling concessions from 1 - 4 pm. Area Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will be onsite selling seasonal favorites such as pumpkins, popcorn and more. The Jr. Women’s Club will be hosting a bake sale.

2nd Annual Duck Race (12:30 pm Race Begins)
We are doubling our ducks for this year’s race. Only 200 will be sold. All ducks will be released into Lake Becerra. With a little assistance from the Glenside Fire Protection District, these ducks will travel across the lake towards the finish line. First 3 ducks to cross will win one of 3 great prizes! Visit the Sports Hub to adopt a duck. Winners do not need to be present to win. Adopt a duck today! $3 for one, $5 for two. 1st Place: $100 Cash | 2nd Place: Recreation Department Package | 3rd Place: Goodie Basket

Kids Fishing Derby (9:00 am Check In, 10:00 Start)
The Annual Kids Fishing Derby has been rescheduled to take place at Harvest Fest at Lake Becerra (Heritage Park). Registration begins at 9:00 am along with the opening of the casting skill area. The Derby will promptly start at 10:00 am and will end at 12:00 pm with trophy presentations to follow. This “Catch and Release” derby is designed to be loads of fun with many chances to win prizes. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Trophies will be awarded in the following age categories: 6 & under, 7-10 years old, and 11-15 years old. Catch us at this FREE Event!

Senior Fishing Derby (9:00 am Check In, 10:00 Start)
Kick off Harvest Fest by joining the other anglers at Lake Becerra (Heritage Park) for the 3rd Annual Senior Fishing Derby! This FREE catch and release derby will take place on Sunday, October 3rd from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Registration begins at 9:00 am. Both live and artificial bait are permitted. Awards will be given to the fisherman and fisherwoman catching the largest fish and wearing the Best Fishing Hat! So grab your sunscreen, bait and tackle and bring it to Lake Becerra for a relaxing morning of fishin’ competition. FEE: Free!

Build Your Own Scarecrow Contest (11:00 am)
Want to build your very own scarecrow for your family? We will provide the hay and twine and you can bring your own clothing to stuff. After you’re done building your scarecrow, we will take a photo for judging later.

Pumpkin Carving Contest (1:00 pm)
Bring your own pumpkin or purchase one on site from our local scout troops and join the contest. Please bring your own carving tools. Awards will be given in the following age groups: 6 & under, 7-10 and 11-15 year olds.

Family Health & Safety Fair

Wednesday, October 6, 5:00 pm–8:00 pm
Mark your calendar! This free community event is on Wednesday, October 6th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Glendale Heights Sports Hub. Teddy Bear Clinic, Screenings include: Blood Pressure, Body Fat, Diabetes, Strength & Fitness testing and vision screening, emergency vehicle tours, child ID cards and much, much more! The event is sponsored by Marquardt School District 15, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Queen Bee School District 16, Village of Glendale Heights, Glenside Fire Protection District, Bloomingdale Fire Protection District, Glenside Library District, Bloomingdale Library, Glenbard Township High School District 87 and Chicago Blower Corporation.
