Senior Bus Transportation

All scheduled bus routes are $3 one-way and $5 round trip, per person. Call the Center at 630.260.6050 to schedule your senior bus reservation 24 hours in advance of desired your trip.

Reservations may not be accommodated if reserved within 48 hours. Due to traffic and unforeseen situations, please allow for a 15-minute window for pick-ups. Please call the Center to cancel your ride if it is no longer needed.

Medical Equipment Program

The Village's Medical Equipment Pantry has walkers, wheel chairs, canes, quad canes, crutches, commodes, other bathroom equipment and more! All may be borrowed FREE of charge to residents. For further information or if you are interested in making a donation, please call the Center at 630.260.6050.

Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP)

The Center for Senior Citizens is pleased to be a SHIP sponsored site. Our trained volunteers can provide assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers. This service is FREE - call the Center to schedule an appointment for assistance with your insurance questions.

9-1-1 Cell Phone Program

The Village of Glendale Heights' cell phone program works with the elderly and disabled in an effort to ensure greater security, dignity and independence by providing recycled cell phones for 9-1-1 calls. Those who are interested must call to schedule an appointment at the Senior Center. Do you have a cell phone that you are not using? The Glendale Heights Police Department is collecting cell phones, chargers and batteries for this program. Please drop-off cell phones and their necessary accessories in a plastic bag to the Police Department or the Glendale Heights Center for Senior Citizens.

AdventHealth GlenOaks - The Nurse Is In

The "Nurse is In" is a FREE monthly visit from the AdventHealth GlenOaks Registration Nurses that offer blood pressure/pulse checks and information on healthy lifestyles and community health resources. No appointment necessary! Offered the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 9:00am - 10:00am.

Senior Care Calling

The Glendale Heights Police Department maintains a calling system designed to check the well-being of senior citizens when the weather or other conditions reach health-threatening levels. Pleae call the Center if you would like you or a family member added to this list.

Senior Utility Tax Rebates

This Village program assists qualifying Seniors by rebating Municipal Utility Taxes. For more information or an application please call the Center for Senior Citizens at 630.260.6050.

Warming/Cooling Center

There are warming and cooling center at designated Village facilities that the Village when open during times of extreme cold or heat. When the Village opens these centers, they will notify the public through announcements on social media, GHTV, phone and other available options.

If you lose your power in the dead of winter or the heat of summer, call the Police Department's non-emergency number at 630.260.6070.

DuPage Homeownership Center (DHOC) Hope for Seniors

Are you worried about being able to afford to stay in or maintain your home as you get older? DHOC offers free, confidential, unbiased information and counseling to senior homeowners about reverse mortgages, tax relief options and low-cost home repair programs that can help you maintain your independence. VA Hearing Aids/Eyeglasses

It is VA policy that all enrolled veterans and those veterans exempt from enrollment are eligible for medical services that include diagnostic audiology, diagnostic and preventive eye care services, and prescription and provision of hearing aids and eyeglasses must be furnished to all eligible veterans in accordance with the parameters and criteria defined in this Directive. Vehicle Stickers

Senior citizens are allowed one free vehicle sticker per household. For information on how to obtain your vehicle sticker, contact the Center for Senior Citizens at 630.260.6050.

DuPage County Treasurer's Office SeniorServe

SeniorServe is a program designed by the DuPage County Treasurer's Office to assist seniors manage the costs associated with their annual property tax bill. For more information regarding SeniorServe, visit the DuPage County Treasurer's Office SeniorServe website.

Republic Services Senior Discount

If you are 65 years old or better and the property owner with the Republic Services billing in your name, you are eligible for a 35% monthly discount for your refuse collection services. You may also request a smaller garbage tote. To obtain your discount, please send a letter with your name, address, account number and proof of your age including a copy of your most recent property tax bill to:

Do Not Call Registry

Are you tired of the multitude of calls received by telemarketers? Register your phone number on the FCC's "Do Not Call" list. Those who have registered in 2002 may need to re-register. You may register online at www.donotcall.gov or by phone at 888.382.1222 (TTY 866.290.4236) from the phone number you wish to register and simply follow the prompts. The website also includes information on how to file a complaint.
