The Village welcomes new businesses interested in opening within the community.

Several steps are required in order to open a new business within the Village. These steps are explained in detail in the New Business Information Packet.

The first step in opening a new business is for the owner to contact the Community Development Department at 630.260.6030 to determine if the proposed business complies with the zoning regulations. Once the appropriate zoning is determined, the owner should submit the applications included in the New Business Packet, including the New Business Building and Zoning Application, the Keyholder and Alarm Information, the Wastewater Discharge Survey, the Code Red Emergency notification form, as well as a floor plan.

The floor plan will be reviewed to determine if there are any issues with the building code, and then the Deputy Building Code Official and Fire District will conduct an inspection to confirm compliance with the codes and ordinances of the Village.

Any building alteration or construction requires a building permit. Once the building is approved for occupancy, a certificate of occupancy will be issued and the owner may obtain a business license from the Finance Department.
